Ausangate Salkantay Choquequirao Inka 4-day Inka 2-day Horseback Valley Titicaca Jungle Radical Cusco Machu Picchu
The Inka Trail
We pick you up at your hotel in the morning and then go by private bus to the km 82. There we start our walk. We take the lunch near the Patallacta ruins and then continue until Huayllabamba, where we camp.
The second day is marked by the challenging ascension of the Huarmi Wañusca pass (4'200m). The trail goes through a beautiful cloud forest. We sleep at Pacaymayu, in the valley after the pass.
In the morning, we start our walk uphill to the second pass, passing the Inca control-point of Runcu Raccay. The trail brings us to Sayacmarca, a well preserved Inca town and then to the third pass (with the ruins of Phuyupatamarca) from where start the impressive stairs down to Wiñay Wayna, where we usually camp for the last night.
The last day of our adventure, we wake up early to walk the 1 ½ hour to the Inti Punco (door of the sun) where we watch the sunrise over the Machu Picchu. After another 35 minutes, we reach the site and we have a guided tour of 2 hours. Then you are free to visit the place by your own. We meet at Aguas Calientes at 4:00 pm to take the train back to Cusco.
